Many of you that are on the Jane Doe Makeup facebook (www.facebook.com/janedoemakeup) know that I have been re-shooting a lot of my special fx makeup for Halloween & Portfolio.

I am doing a series of semi-related faces in famous monsters and characters from classic movies and also usual Halloween Requests. I had not updated my portfolio in some time due to taking on a lot of jobs where photos were not allowed. A lot of the jobs I have taken over the past couple of years have involved celebrities, private events, corporate events, promotions for companies and also Catalogs. When I do a lot of my catalog work for FX & Costume Companies they shoot their agency models in their costumes and accessories. These photos do not usually come available to me for a year or more - and it's usually more difficult to track down the photos.

In addition, I have been contacted by the casting director for the new SYFY Channel show "face off". The show will be the project runway of Special FX & Fantasy Make-up. I am eager to apply for the show now because I have realized that it's as if the show has been tailored for me specifically. They are looking for individuals who are self taught, semi-experienced and professional to fly to Los Angelos to compete for a 100,000 prize. I think it would be an excellent opportunity to showcase my talent/abilities as well as get the word out about my studio in brooklyn and the makeup classes and separate makeup artist portfolio building sessions!

The work that I have recently done has been airbrush makeup and some "by hand" painting. The images that are coming out are looking almost digitally altered - which I feel is a good and bad thing. I wanted to write a blog entry about it - to let everyone know what Ive been up to at the studio! I have been using my own face for a lot of the modeling for the FX shoots - as preparation to build skill and speed with airbrushing in general. The show requested that all applicants do their own fx makeup on themselves! Which is actually 10 times harder than doing it on another face. The faces look very painted on and I've been using shading/contouring techniques to recreate my own face and also change the shapes of my face and designs within these shots.

(never offered before. Will feature facial hair, character design and planning, adhesives, color theory, shading and contouring, designing conditions and everday skin tones for characters, product recommendations and more!)

Wednesday September 29th- Special FX: Vampires V.S. Zombies 12pm-5pm

(never offered before. This workshop will feature new and old vampires and zombies, creating latex wounds and scars, highlighting and contouring for this specific character makeup, history and look into various zombie and vampire looks over time from popular tv and movies, latex application, makeup removal, product recommendations and more)
